ARROW—An acronym to an organization whose meaning has been lost. It’s no doubt this top secret government facility was once home to a different style of experiments all together so the meaning of the title is no doubt unimportant, nonetheless, that is what it is called and it should be remembered.

Orphans, infants, abandoned children and the terminally ill. This building has become home to all sorts of people who have been lost by society and, by all accounts, might as well be dead. ARROW takes these children into their dome and treats them as human specimens, testing them and their immunity to different elements and their ability to react to tests which have been dubbed to inhumane even for the mangiest of rats. If these subjects do not show favorable results, they are condemned to the fate which was already assumed of them.

However, the pride of ARROW has been, and always will be, their advances in brain capacity. It is a well circulated myth that human beings only use ten percent of their brains in an average lifespan, and whether or not that is true has been debated by scientists and psychologists for many years. ARROW is rumored to attempting to prove or disprove these myths through the use of human guinea pigs, heavily monitoring the children as they experience these unique changes through the use of invasive surgeries, illegal drugs and physical strain. In stimulating brain activity, these ‘scientists’ attempt to justify their actions by assuring themselves that it is for the betterment of humankind. But how exactly are these children benefiting from these experiments when they are killed indiscriminately after they have worn out their welcome?

There are few individuals who live past ten years old, and even fewer who reach their teenage years. If we do not act quickly, there might be none left at all.

Honored by Bnovel for July...

Juliet wished she could claim she was the type who would make a decision and then jump in head first without thinking because then maybe she would be able to rationalize some of the dumb things she’s allowed herself to do. But it was really quite the opposite: she was the type who played out all the worse-case scenarios in her head and, despite knowing the best decision, she would usually consciously make the wrong one anyway.

Is it fair to expect one girl to act on a larger than life situation on her own? She hadn’t exactly signed up to liberate an entire “race” of children kept secret from the rest of the world. In all fairness, she hadn’t signed up to liberate anyone at all. Still, circumstances were circumstances and she had seen them, met them, and vowed to help him. But was it her duty to save them all?
