Chapter 11:

It did not take long for the AD HQ to erupt into a furry of movement. An alarm system somewhere was going off, and the red hoodie/XR22 mesh clad soldiers that made up Ascending Dawn's troops sprinted about, arming themselves with MP5's, and preparing to for some course of action Scott and Dark were as of yet blind too. Together the two DPD members climbed the stairs of the HQ in an acrobatic fashion as they had to make an effort to dodge a stream of AD troops heading down to the lower level.

Dark and Scott soon met up with Jill, Pantz and Virgil as they made their way to the penthouse where they entered to find Zan and Captain Awesome sitting at the briefing table, Kat sitting as well as Jake talked into a radio, shouting, ".... I don't care! Tell him I am currently mobilizing my forces and will have them there before dawn tomorrow, have him set the base onto high alert, and send a message to the team out at the backup point to have the explosives ready!" Jake slammed the radio down in frustration as he said, "Damn it! I didn't expect their attack so god damned soon! BD forces have mobilized an attack army, they plan on taking the Eastern Supply/Barracks tomorrow." Jake slumped into a chair and banged his fist on a table as Kate stood up and said, "Zan, Captain, we plan on moving majority of the troops to the Eastern outpost tonight, see to it your respectable units are taken under your wing, as well as informing Karr that he is staying behind to defend main HQ." Zan and Captain Awesome both stood up and nodded, leaving the DPD alone with the two AD leaders. Jake looked up and said, "Dark, I want you and your team taking point as we move, we have a lot of ground to cover, and I would prefer it that we didn't lose many men to infected along the way." Dark nodded and said, "Load up, guys, let’s go."

The Ascending Dawn army was soon gathered in front of the HQ, each unit in its place, as they marched in a considerable organized fashion through the deserted streets of Eastern Fairview. Night soon approached, and each every flash light that was available was used to light the way, marching along, the buildings casting black shapes that twisted the imagination of what could be awaiting them the following day. A few hours past midnight, the troops had arrived at the Eastern Base, which appeared to have once been a medium sized building for a company called Nanotech. The building sat at the center of a four way intersection, a long street stretching forth from its entrance, littered with shelled out cars, and the rotting bodies of infected that the crows had not eaten away at yet. The defenses for this building were staggering, all three streets that faced the BD territories to the north east and west had been blocked by barricades of piled cars and other refuse to form make shift walls, each of the surrounding buildings was able to be accessed and their interiors used for smaller defense points. With the help of the AD troops already stationed inside the "fort" the massive army Jake and Kat had brought with them slowly made their way over the walls and into the courtyard there in, were they set up camp, preparing for the day that would follow, the battle that would be fought, and the lives that would be lost.

Morning came early for the survivors as soon scouts were reported the movements of the BD army. Jake called forth Dark, Zan and Captain Awesome one last time. "Zan, I want your unit to guard the western barricade, keep yourself alive, so no blind melee combat. Captain Awesome, you are fighting the Eastern barricade route, they are sure to attempt an attack that way too, once again, I need you two to stay alive, so don't get your asses killed. Dark, you and Jill are coming with me in the northern road, Virgil will assist Zan and out west, Pantz will help Captain and Kat out east, and Scott can help us up top with his rifle, you good with that?"

Dark nodded, he felt wrong dividing his forces up like such, but he realized it was for the best. He was then dismissed and sought out his troops to explain their orders, each one felt the pain of separation and realization that they might never see each other again. "Just remember guys, we die together! I have never been more proud of any of us more than I have this moment. whether the outcome, I am glad I could call each of you my friends." The DPD then split apart to wait in their assigned positions, splitting from each other to fight a greater battle to come.

. . . . . . . .

Vora X. stood at the head of his army as the group he commanded entered the northern road that lead to the AD Eastern Base, by his side was Blaqk, Rez was already in position. "The troops on the eastern side are in place already?" asked Vora as he turned to Blaqk, although he did have superior numbers, he had to leave three of his better fighter behind to watch the territory from outside invasion while away, Gregg served this purpose, while SC and Abbie had reinforcements about two miles away, ready to respond at a moment’s notice. "Yes, and I will lead my group west now." Blaqk looked down at the group of AD gathered down the street and smirked as he commented, "They already know it is a worthless fight, and yet they still stand against us? Man's stupidity is his greatest trait." Vora nodded as he turned to say to Blaqk, "Make me proud." Blaqk stopping to bow and saying, "As always Arch Lord."

. . . . . . . .

Dark looked off into the distance as he manned his spot in one of the nearby buildings. The plan was for part of the group to make their way to the side in order to flank the BD between two surprise forces, and force them to turn. In the distance he could see Katejina carrying a Mossberg 500, Jake saying something to her before she turned to join a different group. Jake was silent as he watched the enemy gather on the horizon, in his hands was an HK USC. Dark admired his bold confidence, and his foolish sense of victory. Alas he did know that if anyone could pull of this defense, it would be Jake. "Ready your weapons,"said Dark as he cocked his Spas 12.

He was ready to die.

. . . . . . . .

Rez was on a roof at a tree way intersection that faced the distant AD Eastern outpost. He was comfortable in his snipers nest as he sat in a chair, his weapon propped against the ledge of the roof. Next to him was a table that held 15 magazines of ammo, and a cup of tea, which he began to drink, his small finger extended in the British fashion as he got the message from Vora to start the battle. Carefully he took aim and looked down the street, zooming in on the head of an AD solider foolish enough to be out front, he let go of his breath and squeezed. The solider dropped, and the battle had begun.
