From my experience in writing stories, novels and sometimes even poetry profit tremendously from having a beta-reader check it before publishing the piece.

Basically the job of a beta-reader is to check the chapter for grammar, spelling (as far as possible for his current language skills), for plot-mistakes and major upsets it writing style, plot-line and character-development.

I think it is very important to have someone check your works before publishing. It is same for publishing with professional publishers, nothing ever will go out unchecked. Thus I created this thread.

Interested people can express their will to be a beta-reader here and post something along a small application and introduction of themselves. Of course being a beta-reader should not be one-sided so help your beta-reader with his stories to if there is the need!

My own application and introduction. :)

Name: Yuki Nabe

I have been writing for about 2,5 years now and am activly working on a few novels to published in the future. My focus mainly lies on plot and the flow of the story. I am trying to edge out minor details and find any small discontinuity you make in your stories. Characters have to be wary of harsh critique if they are flatly designed or behaving OOC. I can be very picky sometimes and people might find it a little hard to argue with me as I rarely change opinions.

Things I would take on:

- anything within in Romance, Tragedy, Drama, Psycho, Science-fiction and Spiritual. Short-stories, novels, poetry is fine with me.
